About Me

Belinda Garcia-Maguid (she/her) is a first-generation Filipina-American writer born and raised in the Bay Area. She fell in love with screenwriting during her Writing for Film, Television & Digital Media program at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. While at AAU, she was a Best Screenplay Finalist for NXTUP Fest in 2018 for her script “Talking in Cars” and a Best Screenplay Winner in 2019 for her script “Cold Lunch.” In college, Belinda wrote video game and esports journalism in her free time for websites like DBLTAP Esports and Geeks of Color, which took her to gaming events all over the country. She also worked as a Production Assistant for various projects, like the feature film Bring Me an Avocado.

After college, Belinda worked in PR/Communications for video games, starting in indie games with popagenda and moving into AAA games at Ubisoft. Though communications was an exciting job and allowed her to learn more about video game development, her dream was always to write them. Around this time is when she received her first opportunity to write on an indie game with Flight School Studio, Stonefly, which would eventually debut her first game credit as a writer. Then, in 2021, Belinda was hired at Sledgehammer Games as an Associate Narrative Designer and would have her first AAA narrative design credits on Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone

Following her time at Sledgehammer Games, Belinda found herself at Crystal Dynamics as a Game Writer and Narrative Designer, working on the future of Tomb Raider. She remains passionate about telling unique stories with genuine, diverse women characters. It's important for her to champion marginalized voices in her industry as much as possible throughout her career -- within the games and the teams that create them.

These days, Belinda resides in Oakland, California with her husband, two cats, and her overflowing stationery collection.

I’d love to hear from you!
